1990 Yamaha XJ600

Chimera Motorcycles first build as featured in the Bike Shed London Show 2022.

​

in typical fashion when setting out on choosing our first build I wanted to use a base bike that hadn't really been used before which in turn means very little information available and even fewer available parts! 


I was looking through local market places and saw the regular Hondas and BMW's which all look fantastic when done and have incredible support online and with aftermarket parts but I wanted something not usually done before. I even have a 2018 Ducati Monster in the garage,


but i wanted something from the 80/90's ...

And there she was a slightly dishevelled 1990 Yamaha XJ600, with horrible plastic fairings, clunky displays, proper 80's styling at its worst. 


Its claim to fame, the first inline 4 cylinder 600 that paved the way for many future Japanese superbikes

This is a full custom build from the ground up

Frame 

  • Shot blasted 

  • Custom one of rear subframe

  • Custom hand made metal rear cowling painted in satin black with orange detail

  • Suzuki GSXR 750 USD Forks powder coated in black and rebuilt

  • Tapered all balls bearing headset 

  • Clip on handlebars 

  • Custom billet top yolk with Chimera detail 

  • Orange top nut 

  • Rear YSS mono shock with adjustable rebound and preload 

  • Biltwell Grips

  • Standard wheels refurbished and powder coated in matt black 

  • Bridgestone tyres (wider than standard)

  • x2 6 pot front calipers and 310mm front discs 

  • Adelin brake and clutch levers

  • Hydraulic brake switches
